Establish identity and record continuity
Match the vehicle identification in the offer, photographs and inspection report. Ask for the available service and repair records and note any missing periods. Compare declared mileage with the evidence available without treating a single document as conclusive proof. Review body and underbody together
Request exterior views, panel and repair findings, and an appropriate underbody inspection by qualified personnel. Outdoor styling and accessories do not reveal how a vehicle has been used. Ask the inspector to report damage, corrosion or signs requiring further assessment, with location photographs. A clean paint finish should not be treated as evidence that structural or underside condition has already been checked.
Give the electric system its own evidence
Ask for available diagnostic findings, battery identification and explanation of warnings, repairs or incomplete assessments. Specify that high-voltage inspection belongs with competent professionals. Do not request improvised disassembly or accept a dashboard range estimate as a full battery-health result. Keep the method and date visible, and use the powertrain review to distinguish original battery specification from the present condition of the candidate.
Assess mechanical operation and wear
Agree a suitable operational inspection covering the range extender, steering, braking, suspension and other relevant systems. Request findings on tyres and visible leaks or abnormal behaviour rather than a blanket statement that the car drives well. Record conditions that limited testing. Where a fault needs diagnosis, separate the observed symptom from an unconfirmed cause and ask for a defined follow-up before agreeing the remedy.
Check cabin functions in the chosen layout
Verify the required seating arrangement and operate fitted seat controls, climate functions and other agreed equipment. Check the supplied keys and request demonstrations of essential screen and phone functions. A cabin image does not confirm connectivity or account access at the destination. Close the report with decisions
Sort findings into accepted condition, agreed remedial work and unresolved items. Identify who will perform any work, what evidence will confirm completion and whether a recheck is needed. Retain the original report and subsequent records together. If the candidate changes, obtain evidence for the replacement. An inspection is most useful when the purchase discussion clearly reflects its scope, limitations and findings rather than simply attaching a pass label.
