Identify the installed software first
Request the relevant version display from the actual vehicle, along with the production and original market records. Establish which system the displayed number describes. A photograph of one screen cannot identify every control system in the car, and a seller’s translated trim name does not make another market’s release applicable.
Keep the vehicle identification record with this evidence. For a batch purchase, note differences between individual units rather than assuming identical software from matching exterior photos. Ask whether previous preparation changed the system and what documentation survives. Unknown preparation history should remain visible when the buyer decides how much further assessment is needed.
Ask what latest means for this vehicle
Have the responsible provider confirm the eligible release and the date of that confirmation. Ask whether the answer applies to the installed system, original market and actual vehicle. A newer number mentioned online may describe a different branch or product, and a search result alone is not an update approval.
The language and software overview connects this task with ownership support. Keep update availability separate from a promise that all services will operate overseas. Where the provider cannot establish eligibility, describe it as unresolved. Do not label a candidate fully updated simply because its screen resembles a recent model presentation.
Define the intended customer benefit
Identify the particular issue or function the customer wants addressed. English menu requirements, a phone task and a provider-reported correction need their own acceptance checks. Request a clear description of the proposed change and any relevant limitations. A general claim that new software improves everything is too broad to support a dealer’s customer promise.
Keep third-party additions distinguishable from a supported vehicle update. Ask who performed earlier work and whether the proposed provider accepts the resulting configuration. Have the responsible provider establish the appropriate process. The useful result is a documented supported route for the selected car, with the expected outcome agreed before preparation begins.
Record who completes the work
Name the responsible provider, the work scope and the completion point in the preparation agreement. Follow the applicable provider and vehicle instructions rather than improvising a procedure from an online discussion. An offer to update after payment needs the same clear outcome as work completed before a quotation.
For dealer stock, specify which receiving party will be able to obtain appropriate future support. A one-time preparation service is different from an ongoing overseas support arrangement. Keep these obligations separate in the quotation requirements, including what happens if the required change cannot be legitimately completed for the selected unit.
Repeat the essential functions afterwards
After supported work, retain the version result and repeat the customer tasks affected by the change while safely parked. Include relevant language screens, phone use and normal controls within the agreed assessment scope. A completed update notification does not prove the intended task now works with the customer’s arrangement.
Treat charging or other operational checks as separate documented tasks where relevant. Preserve before-and-after findings and unresolved issues without turning one demonstration into a whole-vehicle certificate. If the car is substituted or preparation changes again, review the applicable result for the delivered unit rather than carrying an earlier screenshot into its handover pack.
Keep an accurate release description
Record the identified system, eligible release confirmation, provider, completed work and observed outcome. State any destination service that remains untested. Avoid including private account credentials in a general sales report. A receiving dealer should be able to explain what was established without needing access to someone else’s personal login.
Use the handover checklist to retain these records for new and used cars. Older vehicles may have additional software-history questions; new stock still needs the required functions confirmed. Describe the verified result and its date instead of promising that the car will always carry the latest software or every future feature.
